Oct. 14—The LaRouche movement held targeted demonstrations last week with the aim of breaking the hold of the war party following the shakeup by the removal of U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. Organizers handed out the Schiller Institute leaflet, “No More Money for Arms in Ukraine! No World War with Russia or China!” which is being circulated internationally.

The main demonstration was held in Washington, D.C. over October 11–12. Organizers set up outside the Longworth Building on Capitol Hill, allowing interactions with numerous officials and even a few Congress members. They held a large banner which read: “LaRouche to Congress: No More Funds to Ukraine; No World War III with Russia.” Other signs read: “NATO Destroys, BRICS Builds”; and “Stop the War; Stop the Funding; Start the Peace Talks.” A bullhorn amplified their presence, as they addressed passersby up and down the entire block. One organizer even recited the beginning of George Washington’s famous Farewell Address warning of the pitfalls of “party politics.”

Interspersed with the demonstration, organizers held over a dozen meetings with various Congressional offices, as well as many more drop-in and impromptu meetings. Organizers reported wide-open interest from many of the offices, with a growing sense that there needs to be an off-ramp to the disastrous war in Ukraine, and noted most were happy to hear our message.

At the same time, the LaRouche movement in Mexico held a rally in front of the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City, distributing the same Schiller Institute statement. They held various signs and a long banner reading “No to World War with Russia and China.” Organizers also focused on the growing BRICS dynamic which shows the way for peace in the world. One sign in particular pointed this out for the embattled case of Argentina. It read: “Let’s Go Argentina, Continue with the BRICS!”
