PRESS RELEASE
INTERNATIONAL WEBCAST JUNE 16
LaRouche To Address Urgent Changes
in Economic and Monetary Policy
June 3, 2005 (EIRNS)—The Lyndon LaRouche Political Action Committee issued the following invitation today, to webcast event to be held on June 16 and featuring Lyndon H. LaRouche, Jr.
Dramatic recent events on both sides of the Atlantic have now set the stage for a long-overdue fundamental change in world economic and monetary policy. On May 23, a bipartisan group of U.S. Senators delivered a significant defeat to the Bush Administration, and by defeating the so-called "nuclear option" against judicial filibusters, an act that would have destroyed the institution of the U.S. Senate, placed the Bush-Cheney White House in near-lame duck status. On May 29, voters in France overwhelmingly defeated the new proposed European Constitution, in an action largely driven by citizens' disgust with the economic disasters brought about by the Maastricht Treaty's Stability Pact and the loss of jobs under globalization. The French events had been foreshadowed a week earlier in the electoral defeat suffered by the German Social Democratic Party in crucial state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia, also based on the failed economic policies of the Schroeder government there.
American political economist Lyndon LaRouche has called for the revival of the American System principles that governed President Franklin D. Roosevelt's reversal of the Coolidge-Hoover Great Depression, the mobilization of American industrial might to defeat Nazism and Fascism, and the establishment of the Bretton Woods System of fixed exchange rates, that was key to the post-war economic recoveries of Europe and Asia. The post-Bretton Woods 1971-2005 floating exchange rate system has now brought the world to the brink of a total monetary collapse, and has gutted global production of vital physical goods, both industrial and agricultural.
Mr. LaRouche has identified the conjuncture of the political shocks in Washington, Paris and Berlin, and the accelerating disintegration of the global monetary system as a moment of opportunity to return to sanity in trans-Atlantic economic policy. He will address these issues in an international webcast, on Thursday, June 16, 2005, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. The event will be broadcast live over the internet at larouchepub.com and www.larouchepac.com. Public events will take place in Washington, D.C., and in other locations around the United States and Europe.
