Ban the Green Party as Nazis,
Says Berlin Newspaper
April 11, 2007 (EIRNS)—Apparently under the impact of several weeks of the LaRouche Youth Movement's mobilization with dossiers and pamphlets on the Green fascist/Antifa/Antideutschen problem, the Berlin daily Junge Welt, in a lead editorial today, called for a constitutional ban of the Greens. The author, Jürgen Elsässer, began his editorial with a quote from an Adolf Hitler speech before journalists in November 1938, in which Hitler said that whereas before, he was obliged by the political constellation to talk about peace, he now feels free to talk about war.
With that, Elsässer wrote, Hitler was a prominent pre-runner to today's neo-Con, former anti-militarist Greens like Reinhard Buetikofer, who calls for military interventions abroad, which in reality are just wars of agression. The Greens have quit all their former leftist traditions from 1991, and since then, have killed more people with their policies than the rightwing-radical NPD. So if one calls for a ban of the NPD, one must also call for a ban of the Greens, Elsässer wrote.
The editorial breaks a long-time taboo on the left in Germany against attacking the Greens head-on, and its arguments join those of the LaRouche movement which already in March 1983 called for a ban of the Greens, in a statement by Helga Zepp-LaRouche then circulated nationally.
Elsässer's editorial comes in the particular context of a fierce brawl between peacenik sections of the Green party base, and the party leadership, in the run-up to, and during the Easter Marches. Buetikofer and another party leader, Claudia Roth, called the protesters ill-advised because "there are situations which require military intervention" like Afghanistan, Darfur, and the like. In addition to frictions between standard leftists and the Antideutschen, a deep split is developing now between the Green leaders, their party base, and the entire leftist protest movement. If there were elections in Germany now, it would be the end for the Greens.
