Rezko Story Spreads Over Obama's Head
Feb. 6, 2008 (EIRNS)—In the wake of this week's British press signalling how the Tony Rezko story can and will be used to bring down Barack Obama, following are a sampling of stories circulating just over the past 24 hours:
- A nationally-circulated Associated Press wire story, "Obama Has Much Yet to Prove," saying that: "The potential for setbacks and mistakes is high," starting with the Rezko scandal, close scrutiny of Obama's record, the race card, etc.
- The campus newspaper of Howard University in Washington D.C., The Hilltop, runs an editorial entitled "Obama and his Slumlord," saying that for Obama to donate his Rezko contributions to charity after media scrutiny, "only adds to the shadiness of the situation," and that his affilation with Rezko "makes him seem dishonest to the common people to whom Obama is campaigning."
- Fox TV in Reno runs a piece on the various candidates' luxurious homes contradicting their campaign messages, which begins with Obama's Hyde Park house and Rezko selling him additional land from the property next door, and pointing out that the deal could come back to haunt him.
- Pravda.ru has a story "Barack Obama: five facts you never knew about him"—which includes the Rezko house deal, Obama's use of marijuana and cocaine, etc.
And there are numerous other stories citing Hillary Clinton's reference to slumlord Rezko during the debates. A Google News search on Obama and Rezko displays over 2,500 stories just over the past few weeks.
