PRESS RELEASE
Nicaraguan Canal Work To Get Underway on Dec. 22
Nov. 24, 2014 (EIRNS)—The Nicaraguan government and a spokesman for HKND, the Chinese company building the new trans-Isthmus canal, announced on Nov. 20 that work will begin, as planned, on the port at the Pacific terminus of the canal and access roads on Dec. 22. The immediate goal will be to build what is required to import the huge earthmoving and other equipment required for the endeavor. With continuing mobilizations to stop the canal on ecological, "indigenous," and people-being-evacuated grounds, this move to keep up the momentum is critical.
