Wall Street Tool Obama Pushes Toward Nuclear War
Feb. 4, 2015 (EIRNS)—In an interview with CNN’s Fareed Zakaria Feb. 1, President Obama matter-of-factly admitted that the U.S. had “brokered a deal to transition power in Ukraine” in February of 2014, thereby confirming, as Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov pointed out the next day, that the U.S. was involved in the coup against the elected Ukrainian government, a coup which brought Nazis into the new government, and detonated the current crisis.
Obama’s statement coincided with a loud publicity campaign for the United States and others, to begin providing “lethal assistance” to Ukraine—an action which can only serve as a tripwire for nuclear war. At the center of the publicity is a report cosponsored by the Atlantic Council, the Brookings Institution, and the Chicago Council for Global Affairs, called “Preserving Ukraine’s Independence, Resisting Russian Aggression: What the United States and NATO Must Do.”
In addition to detailing the kinds of military hardware the authors, all of whom are veterans of the U.S. State Department, believe should be provided to Ukraine (at the level of $1 billion a year over the next three years), the report echoes Obama in recommending prepositioning troops and equipment in the NATO states abutting Russia, and in invoking Article 5 of NATO, the clause for coming to military assistance of member nations.
