Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov on Obama

April 22, 2015 (EIRNS)—In a radio interview today with three radio stations, Ekho Moskvy, Sputnik, and Govorit Moskva, as reported by TASS, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said of Obama: "There were many hopes for Obama; there was the Nobel Peace Prize but a lot of wars followed, which were absolutely illogical and did not meet the interests of stability in certain regions."

Lavrov also stated that the United States is unwilling to acknowledge that the Islamic State has emerged as a result of Washington’s own actions: "We have proposed putting the IS on the list of terrorist organizations compiled by the UN Security Council, but the Americans have refused to do that," Lavrov said. "They said this is not a separate organization but the same as al-Qaeda," he said.

Lavrov said that this position is easy to explain: "They do not want to admit that the IS has emerged as a result of their actions in Iraq," he said, pointing out that that al-Qaeda is also the result of the U.S. actions.
