German Daily Reports that Putin Has Outflanked NATO
May 10, 2016 (EIRNS)—Though apparently not using the term, the German daily Süddeutsche Zeitung (SZ) has analyzed the NATO-Russia confrontation and has found that Russian President Vladimir Putin is constantly outflanking NATO.
"Russia is always a few steps ahead of NATO," it concludes, according to a review of the SZ article in Sputnik. "Be it large-scale military drills, flights over NATO warships or deployment of the state-of-the-art military equipment." With its actions in Ukraine and Syria, Russia is sending two messages, the SZ says:
"firstly, it is acting a lot faster than expected, and secondly, it is ready to pursue its own interests with more determination than NATO has ever been able to foresee."
