Brooklyn Diocese Announces Sept. 11 Mass and Mozart Requiem with Schiller Institute Participation

Sept. 5, 2016 (EIRNS)—The Diocese of Brooklyn, in a posting on Aug. 30, announced that on Sept. 11, the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on new York City and Washington, a solemn march across the Brooklyn Bridge, a Mass, and a "rare performance" of the Mozart Requiem will be held to pay tribute to the firefighters and other victims who lost their lives on that tragic day. The Mass will be celebrated in the Co-Cathedral of St. Joseph, in Prospect Heights, New York. As part of the Mass, "the Foundation for the Revival of Classical Culture will present a unique performance of the Requiem by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, in honor of all victims of 9-11." The announcement further notes that 80 members of the Schiller Institute NYC Community Chorus, accompanied by a 42-piece orchestra, and guest soloists, will perform the Requiem at the "Verdi tuning" of the middle C at 256 Hertz.
