Trump Rejects Reports He Wants U.S. To Rejoin Trans-Pacific Partnership
April 18, 2018 (EIRNS)—Before his meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Florida yesterday, President Trump dismissed the recent reports that he is considering re-joining the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), which was formed without the U.S. when Trump dropped out as one of his first acts as President. The TPP also excluded China.
Trump tweeted yesterday:
“While Japan and South Korea would like us to go back into TPP, I don’t like the deal for the United States. Too many contingencies and no way to get out if it doesn’t work. Bilateral deals are far more efficient, profitable and better for our workers. Look how bad WTO is to U.S.”
