FROM EIR DAILY ALERTNext Round of China-U.S. Trade Talks Will Be Held in Washington This WeekFeb. 19, 2019 (EIRNS)—The seventh round of the China-U.S. trade negotiations will be held in Washington, D.C. on Feb. 21-22, and they will be attended by Chinese Vice Premier Liu He, and the U.S. negotiating team including Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, and Presidential advisers Peter Navarro and Larry Kudlow, according to official statements issued by both White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders and the Chinese Ministry of Commerce. President Donald Trump told journalists today that he was optimistic about the talks, and that the deadline of March 1 was flexible. “They are complex talks. They’re going very well. I cannot tell you exactly about timing, but the date is not a magical date,” he stated. “So they are moving fast. We are going to see what happens.” |
