On a Rampage against China, Pompeo Shrieks ‘We’ll Make Them Pay!’
April 29, 2020 (EIRNS)—Against the backdrop of the ever-louder chorus of China-bashing Republican ideologues—better known as Republicans In Name Only—Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is on a relentless drive to ensure that President Donald Trump can never follow through on his intention to collaborate with China to solve pressing world problems. This is part and parcel of the still-ongoing British-intelligence coup against the U.S. President.
Today, in an interview with Fox News and then at a State Department briefing, Pompeo raved about the “dangerous” Chinese laboratories, the need to “get to the bottom” of how the coronavirus began in Wuhan, and denounced the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for “hiding and obfuscating” the truth. The U.S. should be given access to Wuhan’s labs, he demanded.
But,
“we still haven’t gained access, the world hasn’t gained access to the [Wuhan Institute of Virology] WIV there. We don’t know precisely where this virus originated from.... There are multiple labs that are continuing to conduct work, we think, on contagious pathogens inside of China today and we don’t know if they are operating at a level of security to prevent this from happening again.... China knows that the virus outbreak originated in that country, and is using classic communist disinformation to shift the focus from that. I’m still concerned that the Chinese Communist Party is not telling us about all of what’s taking place in all of the labs.”
Remember, he intoned, “this isn’t the first time that we’ve had a virus come out of China.”
Pompeo said he was “heartened” by Australia’s call for an “independent investigation” into the origins of the coronavirus, which was rejected by China, calling it “politically motivated,” and the result of foreign, i.e., U.S., pressure.
In the height of arrogance and racism, Pompeo proclaimed that were Chinese scientists and doctors able to work in the United States, in “freedom and democracy,” they could achieve wonders, as they’d be free to comment and question. It’s not authoritarian China or similar regimes where great scientific advances will be made, he insisted, but only in the great democracies. In the meantime, he warned, the CCP “continues to pose a threat to the world ... it now has a responsibility to tell the world how this pandemic got out of China and all across the world, causing such global economic devastation.”
