Trump Calls Flynn Exonerated, Is Outraged at What FBI Did to Flynn and Stone
May 1, 2020 (EIRNS)—President Trump declared on Thursday that Gen. Michael Flynn “is in the process of being exonerated. If you look at those notes from yesterday, that was total exoneration,” he told a CNN reporter, speaking of the sordid FBI/Justice Department documents now being disclosed.
“Dirty cops tormented General Flynn.... Right at the beginning of the administration the dirty cops came in.... What they did to General Flynn—and, by the way, to Roger Stone and to others—was a disaster and disgrace. And it should never be allowed to happen in this country again....
“These were dirty, filthy cops at the top of the FBI.... Look at what they did to the guy.... They came at him with 15 buses and he’s standing in the middle of a highway.... But he’s going to come back ... bigger and better.”
That latter remark led a reporter to ask the President in the evening press conference if he was considering bringing General Flynn back into his Administration. No one had asked him that before, Trump replied; “I would certainly consider it.... I think he’s a fine man.”
Trump noted he has the power to pardon Flynn, but said he “hopefully” he won’t have to use it.
White House Counselor Kellyanne Conway told Fox & Friends yesterday that the disclosed documents make clear that what was done to General Flynn “was probably criminal,” implying action to come.
