Trade Adviser Peter Navarro Declares, ‘We’re at War with China,’ But not in a ‘Great Depression’
May 12, 2020 (EIRNS)—In an interview yesterday with Fox & Friends, Peter Navarro, director of the Office of Trade and Manufacturing Policy, declared that “We are at war with China...We are at war, make no mistake about that...They inflicted tremendous damage on the world which is still ongoing. We’re up to close to $10 trillion we’ve had to appropriate to fight this battle.” Yes, it’s always hard to have to bail out Wall Street.
Then in an interview with CNBC’s Squawk Box, he added that, “a bill has to come due for China. It’s not a question of punishing them, it’s a question of holding China accountable, the Chinese Communist Party accountable.”
Navarro’s biggest complaint, however, is that several analysts are saying that the U.S. is facing another Great Depression. Oh no. Anyone who says that “doesn’t understand either history or economics.” The real deal is that Donald Trump “built up the strongest and most beautiful economy in three-and-a-half years and then, the Chinese Communist Party dropped a virus on the world that within 60 days has temporarily shut us down.”
Stop the “pity party” about U.S. being in a Great Depression, Navarro raved. “All we need to do is focus on the mission.” What’s that? Americans need to “make things here,” bring the supply chains and manufacturing back to the U.S., and “we will move forward in a way where we will rebound.” But stop the “Great Depression pity party stuff. This ain’t that.”
