President Trump Argues Obama and Crew Have Been ‘Caught in the Act,’ and People Should Go to Jail

May 17, 2020 (EIRNS)—President Donald Trump told Fox Business anchor Maria Bartiromo that “it was impossible” for the intelligence operation launched against his campaign and then his Presidency “to have happened without the man that sits right in that chair in the Oval Office”—i.e., then-President Barack Obama—being involved. Brennan, Clapper, Comey—they were all corrupt, but “Obama knew everything,” Trump stated.

Bartiromo asked Trump: “Do you believe President Obama directed the U.S. intelligence agencies to spy on you?”

President Trump: “Yes, he probably directed them, but if he didn’t direct them, he knew everything.”

This Russiagate operation was “the greatest political crime in U.S. history.... People should be going to jail for this stuff and hopefully a lot of people are going to have to pay,” the President insisted.

People who stood up to this operation, like Gen. Michael Flynn, “are heroes,” he said. People were subjected to the “knock, knock” of the FBI at their door—and that was all Obama and his Vice President Joe Biden. “They [FBI agents] weren’t after General Flynn. They wanted him to lie about me, make up a story. And, with few exceptions, nobody did that.”

He continued: “If I were a Democrat instead of a Republican, I think everybody would have been in jail a long time ago. And I’m talking with 50-year sentences.”

What happened is “an international disgrace.... They never thought they would be caught in the act. They got sloppy.... And, every day, we’re seeing more and more information come out.... It’s like an avalanche of really bad—call it treason—call it whatever you want, but they tried to take down a duly elected President of the United States.”
