Bannon Seeking with China, Uses COVID-19 Pandemic as Excuse

July 12, 2020 (EIRNS)—“Sloppy Steve” Bannon—as President Donald Trump likes to call the depraved individual whom he tweeted had been “dumped like a dog by almost everyone”—has appeared as the latest head of the anti-China hydra whose body lies in the bowels of British intelligence. In an exclusive interview with the London Mail on Sunday, Bannon claimed that Chinese scientists, aware of a dastardly cover-up of the truth about the coronavirus early on, have “defected” and are now in the hands of Western intelligence.

Sloppy Steve, speaking from a yacht off the U.S. East Coast, told the newspaper: “I know that certain defectors are working with the FBI here to try to knit together what happened” in the Wuhan Institute of Virology. He continued: “They are not talking to the media yet, but there are people out of the Wuhan lab and other labs that have come to the West and are turning over evidence of the culpability of the Chinese Communist Party. I think people are going to be shocked.” Whether or not the virus came from the lab, Bannon charged that “the Chinese Communist Party’s subsequent decisions hold them guilty of pre-meditated murder.”

He made reference to the absurd canard that Taiwan had warned China of person-to-person transmission on Dec. 31, 2019, a claim easily debunked by reading the very short message from Taiwan, which any honest reader would conclude made no such definitive statement.

One of the “defectors,” former Hong Kong University researcher Yan Limeng, appeared on the talk show of Chinese billionaire and now U.S. resident Guo Wengui, who has ties to Bannon. Her remarks about her expertise and her knowledge of community spread of the disease on the last day of 2019 and in early 2020—knowledge that she claims to have possessed while working in Hong Kong—were countered by a press release from the university: “Dr. Yan never conducted any research on human-to-human transmission of the novel coronavirus at HKU during December 2019 and January 2020, her central assertion of the said interview.”

While it is not entirely impossible that the current strain of the virus leaked from a laboratory, unsupported innuendo on this front has been rearing its head(s) for months now, and, like other aspects of the coup against Trump and his intentions, is clearly driven by an attempt to stymie the potential for U.S.-China-Russia cooperation for mutual benefit, rather than by any compelling evidence.
