Trump Was Targeting Military-Industrial Complex in Labor Day Remarks, Says Chief of Staff

Sept. 9, 2020 (EIRNS)—-White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows commented yesterday on President Donald Trump’s Labor Day remarks regarding the leadership of the military and its desire for more wars. Meadows claimed that they weren’t aimed at the current leaders, that he had spoken with Secretary of Defense Mark Esper, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley and other top officials about Trump’s remarks on Tuesday morning, Sept. 8, clearly trying to smooth some ruffled feathers.

“Those comments are not directed specifically at them as much as it is what we all know happens in Washington, D.C. This President is consistent about one thing, if we’re going to send our sons and daughters abroad to fight on our behalf, he’s not going to let some lobbyists here in Washington, D.C., just because they want a new defense contract, suggest that they need to stay abroad one minute longer than they should,”

he said, reported ABC News.

“That comment was more directed about the military-industrial complex,” Meadows continued, and continuing that no other President has been as good as Trump at giving “the equipment to our military men and women that need it.”
