More Voices Decry Anti-Police Attacks, Toleration of Black Lives Matter Rampages

Sept. 15, 2020 (EIRNS)—On Saturday Sept. 12, a contingent of 100 Black Lives Matter (BLM) members blocked the upper level of the George Washington Bridge, over the Hudson River between New York City and Fort Lee, N.J., which stopped traffic completely for about an hour, until police dislodged them. The protesters then marched to the 34th NYPD precinct in Washington Heights, and clashed with police after refusing to leave the premises, CBS News reported. Other BLM protests occurred earlier in the day in both the Bronx and New Jersey.

As former New York Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik pointed out during a Sept. 13 interview on Fox & Friends, it is a felony to obstruct traffic, to attack a police officer or obstruct an investigation. Thus, every single one of those protesters should have been arrested and charged. He asserted, as Barbara Boyd reported in her LaRouchePAC exposé, that both BLM and Antifa are just extensions of the radical/anarchist Black Liberation Army and Black Panther party of the 1970s and 1980s. “Black Lives Matter was inspired by the BLA.... Black Lives Matter have people working for them that were part of that movement back in the ’70s and ’80s that were responsible for assassinating more than a dozen, almost two dozen cops over a ten- year period. The bottom line is this has to stop. The Justice Department has to go after Black Lives Matter, after Antifa and put an end to this,” Kerik demanded. He blamed Mayor Bill de Blasio, Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the New York City Council (which slashed the police budget) for a “lack of leadership” in this crisis.

Similarly, New Jersey state Senator Mike Doherty used the occasion of a 9/11 memorial ceremony, to charge that “these demands to defund the police are based upon allegations of systemic racism ... the United States does not have systemic racism. It is an evil lie. The call to defund the police is part of an agenda that seeks to create chaos and mayhem in the United States,” according to the transcript on his website. “These forces want the police out of the way so that the lawless agenda can be fully implemented. The only thing standing in the way is the blue line.” Responding to criticism that his remarks were inappropriate for the occasion, Doherty warned, “we live in unprecedented times, and 2020 provides very few opportunities for elected officials in my position to make a statement. This is an event at which we were talking about law enforcement and I felt it important to let them know that there is someone who supports them.”
