U.S. Hunger, Especially for Children, Has ‘Skyrocketed’ during COVID-19

Sept. 25, 2020 (EIRNS)—The Census Bureau and the Department of Agriculture have issued statistics which show hunger in the U.S. skyrocketing during the current year, according to a report in The Intercept on Sept. 23. The number of households experiencing hunger has tripled, with 10% of households saying they sometimes or often did not have enough to eat within the past seven days. That figure was 3.7% last year. The number of children who do not have enough to eat is 14 times higher than last year.
