Twitter, Facebook CEOs Confess No Proof ‘Laptop From Hell’ Is Russian Disinformation
Oct. 28, 2020 (EIRNS)—During a hearing of the Senate Commerce Committee today, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) grilled Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey about their platforms’ actions to censor the New York Post reporting on Hunter Biden’s laptop. He asked whether they had any evidence that the Hunter Biden emails were doctored or an example of Russian disinformation.
“We don’t,” replied Dorsey, who said lamely that they thought the materials might have been hacked and therefore blocked it in a decision that was reversed within 24 hours. (Although the New York Post is still locked out of its Twitter account.)
Zuckerberg tortured language the way Dick Cheney liked to torture people, proclaiming: “We didn’t censor the content. We flagged it for fact-checkers to review. Pending that review, we temporarily constrained its distribution to make sure that it didn’t spread wildly while it was being reviewed.” Thank goodness they only “constrained its distribution,” which is, of course, a far cry from censorship.... Zuckerberg said that they don’t make these decisions on their own; they get help from the FBI. (Which is Wray different from censorship.)
