A Timely Reminder of Pompeo’s War on Assange, Snowden, and Intelligence Whistleblowers
Dec. 18, 2020 (EIRNS)—There are many indications that President Donald Trump is seriously considering pardoning Julian Assange and Edward Snowden, and thereby delivering a blow to treasonous networks in the intelligence community out to sink the American Republic—but also there is enormous pressure on the President to not deliver such a daring blow.
Count warmonger Mike Pompeo as among the snakes out to sabotage such action. Take a look again at Pompeo’s first public remarks as CIA Director before the Center for Strategic and International Studies, on April 13, 2017. Much about the dirty intelligence community’s coup operations against the President was already known. Pompeo, however, chose to focus his speech on the urgency of taking down key whistleblowers against the Western intelligence community, specifically, Julian Assange, and the WikiLeaks he founded, and Edward Snowden.
Pompeo protested that “we at CIA” don’t understand how people could “celebrate ... those who pose very real threats to our country, individuals such as Julian Assange and Edward Snowden.... WikiLeaks walks like a hostile intelligence service and talks like a hostile intelligence service,” he declared. “It is time to call out WikiLeaks for what it really is—a non-state hostile intelligence service often abetted by state actors like Russia,” he charged.
He held up as proof the lie that “Russians hacked the Democratic National Committee and gave the emails to WikiLeaks” which was at the center of the “Russiagate” first phase of the coup against Trump.
Pompeo promised that under his direction, steps would be taken to crush these whistleblowers, and anyone who supported them.
“What can and should the CIA, the United States, and our allies do about the unprecedented challenge posed by these hostile non-state intelligence agencies? There are steps that we can take to undercut the danger. First, it is high time we called out those who grant a platform to these leakers and so-called transparency activists. We know the danger that Assange and his not-so-merry band of brothers pose to democracies around the world. Ignorance or misplaced idealism is no longer an acceptable excuse for lionizing these demons.
“Second, there are steps that we have to take at home.... We’ve got to strengthen our own systems; we’ve got to improve internal mechanisms that help us in our counterintelligence mission. All of us in the Intelligence Community had a wake-up call after Snowden’s treachery. Unfortunately, the threat has not abated.”
Thus, it is no surprise that when President Trump later ordered Pompeo to meet with leading NSA whistleblower Bill Binney in October to receive a briefing on his proof that the DNC computers were never hacked, Pompeo blew him off and refused to act. And that pardoning Assange and Snowden would be a great blow against the warmongers.
