Saving Money with Nuclear Power’s Energy Density
Dec. 31, 2020 (EIRNS)—The operation of the first unit of Belarus’s nuclear power plant is saving the nation some $750,000 a day in natural gas purchases, announced Belarus Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko on Dec. 29, according to BelTA.
Golovchenko pointed out that the first unit is in pilot commercial operation, with the reactor unit operating at roughly 75% of its output capacity. The Belarusian nuclear power plant is being built using a Russian design featuring two VVER-1200 reactors with a total output capacity of 2,400 MW.
