Global Pandemic Shifting to Developing Nations

May 11, 2020 (EIRNS)—The number of new confirmed infections worldwide has been stable for a month, in the range of 70-80,000/day. But it is shifting toward the developing sector, plus Russia. In the Northern Hemisphere, the major epidemics in China, South Korea, Japan, United States, Italy, France, Spain, Germany, U.K., have decreased. U.S. has declined by about a third over a month; U.K. has remained the same; all the others have become negligible or nearly negligible, and these countries now total only about 30,000 of the 70,000 new daily cases. But not Iran, which is spiking up again; and not Russia, whose new cases are still climbing and are now about 12,000/day. Then the new major epidemics (besides Russia, which seemed to have a delayed start) are in Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, India, and African countries whose lack of testing makes estimation impossible, such as Somalia and Ethiopia, but which clearly have epidemics now.
