Biden’s Emphasis on ‘Ethics’ Bites Him Already
Jan. 31 , 2021 (EIRNS)—Only 10 days into his Presidency, Joe Biden’s emphasis on “ethics” has come back to bite him—and judging from the activities of his family, an epidemic of “bites” will follow, too large to be labelled only “nips.”
A Washington Post article today reports that the Florida law firm which employs the President’s brother, Frank Biden, ran a prominent two-full page “advertorial” in the Daily Business Review on Inauguration Day, promoting the work of the Berman Law Group, which employs Frank Biden, as a “non-attorney senior adviser.” The ad shows a smiling Frank Biden, and highlights his relationship with the President, “emphasizing their shared values.” Its “focus is the Berman Law Group, and Frank Biden’s role in a class-action case against sugar cane growers.” The Post says the ad is “fashioned to resemble a news story about the firm’s involvement in the sugar cane case, though it appears in the clearly labeled ‘Advertorial Section.’ ” The ad, of which the Post displays a facsimile over its coverage, cites Frank Biden’s connection with the President multiple times.
According to the ad, the Berman Law Group sued sugar cane owners “against the backdrop of incoming President Joseph Biden, Jr.’s commitment to environment and social justice, a value shared by his brother and Berman Law Group senior advisor Frank Biden.” The ad goes on how the Biden brothers are sympatico in issue areas where the law firm is working and they have long had a “commitment to pushing environmental issues to the forefront; ... the President-elect has vowed to rejoin the Paris Agreement and wants to set ambitious greenhouse gas-reduction targets.... Similarly, the lawsuit against big Sugar is just another example of how the two brothers’ core environmental beliefs align,” says the part of the ad shown in the Post.
The Frank Biden ethics whopper resulted in Biden Press Secretary Jen Psaki’s sudden announcement from the White House podium Jan. 29, without specifically mentioning the ad. The Post quoted her that: “ ‘It is the White House’s policy that the president’s name should not be used in connection with any commercial activities’ that would suggest or imply ‘his endorsement or support,’ she said.”
Now, when will the son also rise?
