Russian Officials Comment, We Are Talking with U.S., but Relations Are Still Not Good
July 4, 2021 (EIRNS)—Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Russia’s Rossiya-1 TV channel today, that it is still impossible to talk about good relations between the United States and Russia.
“The U.S. President, unfortunately, cannot say that we need to develop good relations with Russia. And all we hear is that we will talk to Russians where we believe is necessary and most importantly, we will punish them if needed. And we still hear such rhetoric because it is just impossible to speak about good relations with Russia in America,”
Peskov said.
In separate remarks, Russia’s Ambassador to the U.S. Anatoly Antonov, recently returned to his post in Washington after the Biden-Putin summit, stated in an interview on “Solovyev Live” YouTube channel on July 3, that some confidential conversations between the two sides are underway. “I want to tell you that there is a closed, serious, confidential conversation between the relevant departments,” he said. He further said that there was still no progress to be reported on the return of Russian diplomatic property by U.S. authorities. “There are no developments on diplomatic property,” he said. “Today, the U.S. has a tough, uncompromising position” on returning Russian diplomatic property. “We cannot and will not reconcile with it, but we will continue to insist and demand that our property is returned,” the ambassador emphasized.
