Biden Ready To Drop Climate Portion of the Hyperinflation Bill

Oct. 17, 2021 (EIRNS)—Although it is generally insane for the Congress to be even considering a multitrillion-dollar hand-out as hyperinflation is already threatening to destroy the entire economy, it appears that at least the most insane portion of the bill—$150 billion to bribe energy companies to switch to unreliable and primitive wind and solar, and to punish those that don’t—is being dropped. Sources in the White House told various reporters that Biden gave in to West Virginia Democrat Sen. Joe Manchin’s insistence that he would not vote for any bill with that section in it. “White House staffers are now rewriting the legislation without that climate provision, and are trying to cobble together a mix of other policies that could also cut emissions,” the New York Times wrote today.

If true, it is yet another blow to the COP26 fiasco scheduled to begin on Halloween in Glasgow, which Biden plans to attend. China, Vietnam and other countries have already announced an expansion of their coal-fired electricity plans. It were best that the conference were simply cancelled, but at least it has a good chance to be a total failure.

Manchin does not, unfortunately, question the fake science behind the attack on fossil fuels. His spokesman, Sam Runyon, wrote in an email, “Senator Manchin has clearly expressed his concerns about using taxpayer dollars to pay private companies to do things they’re already doing. He continues to support efforts to combat climate change while protecting American energy independence and ensuring our energy reliability.”

The Greenies are threatening to scrap the entire bill if the climate section is cut out, under the slogan “No Climate, No Bill.” Sen. Tina Smith (D-MN), one of the chief authors of the bill, told the New York Times: “I will not support a budget deal that does not get us where we need to go on climate action. There are 50 Democratic senators and it’s going to take every one of our votes to get this budget passed.”

Bernie Sanders took the fight into West Virginia, writing an op-ed in the state’s leading newspaper, the Charleston Gazette-Mail, retailing all the lies about carbon and climate, whining about the “existential threat of climate change,” and that “we only have a few years to avoid irreparable damage to our country and planet.” He names Manchin and the Republicans as the problem.

Manchin fired back in a tweet: “This isn’t the first time an out-of-stater has tried to tell West Virginians what is best for them despite having no relationship to our state,” Manchin’s statement said. He further stated that “supply chains are strained and unavoidable inflation taxes are draining workers’ hard-earned wages as the price of gasoline and groceries continues to climb. Senator Sanders’ answer is to throw more money on an already overheated economy while 52 other Senators have grave concerns about this approach.” He declared: “I will not vote for a reckless expansion of government programs. No op-ed from a self-declared Independent socialist is going to change that.”
