British Foreign Secretary Truss Confirms the British Aim To Destroy the Russian Economy

Jan. 30, 2022 (EIRNS)—The British have now gone boldly into fascist territory, openly declaring, as had Hitler before them, that they intend to destroy the entire Russian economy. Foreign Secretary Liz Truss today, in an interview with Sky News (as reported in the Daily Mail), ranted that total destruction of the Russian economy was necessary to “deter” Moscow from aggression:

“The number one thing that will stop Vladimir Putin taking action is if he understands the costs of that action. This could result in a quagmire and he should be well aware of that.

“Currently, the economic sanctions are fairly narrowly drawn, so we could only target companies with a direct involvement in destabilizing Ukraine. What we are looking to do is widen that so any company of interest to the Kremlin and the regime in Russia would be able to be targeted, so there will be nowhere to hide for Putin’s oligarchs, for Russian companies involved in propping up the Russian state. That’s what we are looking at doing this week.”

To achieve that aim, the British are also targeting their supposed “allies” in Europe that do not go along with the Empah’s “total destruction” policy. Truss demands the shutdown of the completed Nord Stream 2 submarine pipeline from Russia to Germany: “Fundamentally, the most important thing is defending freedom and democracy [as they did in Iraq, Libya, and Syria we may ask?], and that is more important than immediate financial issues,” Truss said. “That is true not just for the United Kingdom, but also for our friends in Germany, who are now taking a much tougher line on Nord Stream 2. We cannot favor short-term economic interests over the long-term survival of freedom and democracy in Europe. That’s the tough decision all of us have got to make.”

Prime Minister Boris Johnson plans to talk to Putin this week, and has instructed Truss and Defense Secretary Ben Wallace to go to Moscow this week, supposedly to “improve relationships with the Russian government and encourage de-escalation.” Such “de-escalation” concerns are belied by Johnson’s instruction to his defense and security chiefs to plan further troop and military hardware deployments to Eastern Europe, to “send a clear message to the Kremlin.” Apparently trying to sound like Winston Churchill, Johnson pronounced: “I have ordered our Armed Forces to prepare to deploy across Europe next week, ensuring we are able to support our NATO allies on land, at sea and in the air.”
