EIR LEAD EDITORIAL FOR MONDAY OCTOBER 24, 2022
No World Can Long Exist Half-Slave and Half-Free
Oct. 23, 2022 (EIRNS)—Russia’s Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu spent Sunday, Oct. 23 calling his counterparts in the U.S., the U.K., France and Turkey, about a quickly degrading situation in Ukraine. In particular, he warned them about the Kiev regime’s involvement in an alleged plot to manufacture a dirty bomb, to create a false-flag nuclear incident in Ukraine. The plot, according to RIA Novosti’s sources, involves the aid of Britain in securing certain nuclear components.
It will take a while for the smoke to clear over the charges and counter-charges, but the most immediate, necessary and direct action is to focus the world’s attention over the next four days, on the Schiller Institute’s presciently entitled Oct. 27 conference, “For World Peace: Stop the Danger of Nuclear War.” One can recognize the fear of the present moment in history, but one should never give counsel to fear.
Fyodor Lukyanov, the head of the Council for Foreign and Defense Policy, a Moscow-based group of top foreign affairs analysts, commented on Shoigu’s phone conversations: “It appears that there is a shared feeling that the tensions have approached the level that could raise the real threat for all.”
A few days ago, Lukyanov, who is also Research Director for the Valdai Club, circulated an analysis on the strategic role of the BRICS in constructing a new world economic system. The immediate provocation for Lukyanov was the report by Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan that Saudi Arabia wants to join the BRICS. He remarks that the BRICS could never be a rival to the G7, as long as the BRICS members had to accommodate Washington. But Washington’s orders to countries to kiss the ring of the emperor on matters of “it’s us or them,” have made it clear that sovereignty is a joke, unless a country can stand up on its own two feet. Washington’s thuggish behavior toward the Saudis on the matter of oil sanctions and prices might have been the last straw for Riyadh.
As Abraham Lincoln put it, no nation can long exist half-slave and half-free. The world is hearing that message.
The clearest path forward for the next four days is the invitation and registration for the Schiller Institute conference on Oct. 27
Your loved ones and fellow citizens can usefully organize themselves by studying the Schiller Institute’s previous conference on Oct. 7 with incumbent and former lawmakers.
