Xi Puts Trudeau in the ‘Dog House’

Nov. 16, 2022 (EIRNS)—As he was making the rounds at the G20 talking with individual leaders one-on-one, China’s President Xi Jinping ran into Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, according to the Canadian press pool, which filmed the exchange. Xi rebuked Trudeau for leaking comments from their private conversation to the press, and remarking “that’s not how diplomacy works.” Trudeau tried to defend himself, by saying that in Canada everything was open, and that we should continue to have cordial relations. Xi replied, “first we have to create the preconditions for that,” and peremptorily shaking Trudeau’s hand, Xi took his leave of the stunned Prime Minister.
