Hungary’s Poll Finds Most Europeans Think Anti-Russian Sanctions Are Harmful to Europe

Dec. 20, 2022 (EIRNS)—According to research by Hungary’s Századvég Foundation, (in Hungarian) 69% of the EU’s population registered agreement, when asked, “Does the EU banning Russian oil and gas do more harm than good?” Germany and Hungary both had high agreement at 72%. Poland registered the lowest agreement (52%), although still a slight majority. The Institute’s Europe Project has been polling 1,000 citizens in each of the EU countries, each year, until 2022, when it also included the United Kingdom, Norway, Switzerland, Moldova, Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Bulgaria and Bosnia-Herzegovina, thus increasing the number of adults polled from 28,000 to 38,000. The Századvég Foundation’s Europe Project poll was conducted on behalf of the Hungarian government.
