Kiev Brags It Pays for Weapons from NATO with Ukrainian Blood

Jan. 9, 2023, 2022 (EIRNS)—Kiev is shedding blood to carry out the mission NATO set for itself, and expects the “civilized West” to provide weapons and ammunition in return, Oleksii Reznikov, Defense Minister of the Kiev regime, stated in a Jan. 5 TV interview with 1+1 network’s TSN channel, RT reported the next day.

NATO declared Russia to be its greatest threat at its June 2022 summit in Madrid, Reznikov said. “Today, Ukraine is addressing that threat. We’re carrying out NATO’s mission today, without shedding their blood. We shed our blood, so we expect them to provide weapons.”

In an interview with Newsweek published Jan. 7, Ukraine’s Ambassador to Britain Vadym Prystaiko, similarly expressed the historic tenet of the fascist followers of Stephan Bandera: That Ukraine’s mission is to destroy Russia, at the cost of the nation and its people, if necessary:

“We’ve been in the war for almost a year now. We’re losing people left and right. We’re not advertising how many of those lost are military or civilians, but you can imagine that numbers are huge, indigestible. And the cities, some of them are totally destroyed,” he told Newsweek.

“If we stop right now for any sort of peace negotiations, the Russians will try to keep their land grabs, whatever they’ve managed to achieve up until now. And most of these areas are quite crucial. For example, this land bridge to Crimea.

“The West now has a unique chance. There are not many nations in the world who would allow themselves to sacrifice so many lives, territories and decades of development for the purpose of defeating the archenemy.”

Prystaiko told Newsweek that he had served as chief negotiator for the Minsk agreements. He did so, fully complicit with the now-exposed project to use Minsk solely to buy time to prepare Ukraine for war against Russia. EIR reported at the time that then-Deputy Foreign Minister Prystaiko told Canada’s CBC Radio bluntly in a Feb. 21, 2015, interview that “we don’t want to scare everybody, but we are preparing for full-scale war.... What we expect from the world is that the world will stiffen up in the spine a little. Everybody is afraid of fighting with a nuclear state. We are not anymore, in Ukraine.” He went on to head Ukraine’s mission to NATO from July 2017 to August 2019.

Prystaiko assured Newsweek that now that the U.S. has promised a Patriot battery, tanks and fighter jets cannot be far behind. “We never expected a Patriot system,” he said. “Seriously, this is a top-of-the-line anti-ballistic missile system, which was totally out of the question. I guess tanks, helicopters and even planes are much easier now.” Ukraine and its NATO partners must prepare to make sure that such platforms can be adopted immediately, he urged. “Let’s train our pilots and mechanics now. People hear us and understand that.”

Ukraine is becoming part of NATO, he insisted. “We’ve been exposed to more and more NATO culture altogether. So we’re becoming interoperable because we’re doing it on the ground. And that’s why I’m sure that whether the political decision is here or not now, we will be a part of NATO. People just have to get used to that.”
