The Economist Admits Failure of Sanctions
Jan. 20, 2023, 2022 (EIRNS)—In a Dec. 29, 2022 story entitled “In 2022 Russia Kept the Economic Show on the Road,” the City of London weekly The Economist goes through all reasons why Western forecasts of a collapse of the Russian economy failed, and concludes: “At current, the Russian economic system is in higher form than anticipated. Meanwhile Europe, weighed down by sky-high power prices, is falling into recession.”
The article says nothing new to us and those who have followed published data, but it is a slap in the face for NATO governments and Ursula von der Leyen, who still this week in Davos said that sanctions by the EU “leave the Russian economy facing a decade of regression.”
