When Fraud Is Exposed, U.K. and U.S. Walk Out of UN Security Council
April 6, 2023, 2022 (EIRNS)—The British Empire and the U.S. doubled down on their hypocritical travesty yesterday at the UN, when the testimony exposing their transparent fraud of the alleged Russian kidnapping of Ukrainian children was presented at an informal hearing convened by Russia for members of the UN Security Council.
The British intervened to block the livestream of the testimony from Presidential Commissioner of the Russian Federation on Children’s Rights Maria Lvova-Belova, the U.S. supported the blackout, and the representatives of the two countries walked out of the room, joined by Albania and Malta.
Russia livestreamed the two and half-hour testimony by Lvova-Belova, and by emigré Ukrainian mothers and their attorneys in the EU, and others, on its social media.
U.S. Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield told reporters: “As Russia takes on the presidency of the Security Council, we will use every opportunity to push back on their using their perch in the chair to spread disinformation and to use their chair to push support of their efforts. So, it’s for that reason today that we have opposed ... a woman who has been charged with war crimes, who has been involved in deporting and removal of children from their homes to Russia.” The Anglo-Americans will not allow their victim, Lvova-Belova, “an international podium to spread disinformation and to try to defend her horrible actions.”
Translation: The woman who led the effort to save 2,000 orphans from a war zone and is now trying to place them with relatives, if possible; or, if not, to care for them and possibly find couples willing to adopt—that woman we not only accuse of being a war criminal, but we refuse to have our outrageous lie challenged.
Russia’s UN Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia responded: “We organized our meeting in order to tell the truth about this situation. To let those who are directly involved have first-hand knowledge. This is what informal Arria-formula meetings of the Security Council are all about. But you don’t want to listen and to hear. It is clear that you find this unpleasant and that it contradicts your narrative,” TASS quoted him as saying.
“You don’t need the truth, you have already reached a verdict based on false facts and speculation, as it was the case with Skripals, with the alleged poisoning of Navalny, and with the vile provocation in Bucha. This list can be prolonged. You are quite comfortable living in that cocoon of lies and keeping your public inside it, too. You dismiss anything that threatens it as Russian propaganda.... It is you, not us, who impose censorship on the Security Council.”
