White House To Send Another Package of Munitions to Ukraine
April 20, 2023, 2022 (EIRNS)—The Biden Administration announced its 36th military assistance package for Ukraine yesterday, this one worth $325 million. “This security assistance package includes more ammunition for U.S.-provided HIMARS and artillery rounds, as well as anti-armor systems, small arms, logistics support vehicles, and maintenance support essential to strengthening Ukraine’s defenders on the battlefield,” U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in his announcement.
Munitions are not enough for the Kiev regime, however. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on April 18 that he had “raised the issue” of F-16 fighter jets during a call that day with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), “another sign that Kiev is amping up the pressure to secure modern warplanes from the U.S. and Western allies,” reported The Hill. In his nightly TV speech, Zelenskyy said that, from Poltava, he had briefed the U.S. lawmaker on “I briefed Mr. McCarthy on what is happening now at the front, on our defense needs and capabilities. I raised the issue of F-16, long-range weapons, additional artillery and the tribunal—the tribunal regarding Russia's aggression against our country.”
Oleksii Reznikov, the Kiev regime’s defense minister, announced the arrival of an unspecified number of Patriot batteries from the U.S., Germany, and the Netherlands, reported Defense News. The number of batteries is not reported but is likely one from each country. “Today, our beautiful Ukrainian sky becomes more secure because Patriot air defense systems have arrived in Ukraine,” he gushed on Twitter, as if this were the silver bullet needed to defeat Russia once and for all.
