Preparations for Global War Are in High Gear—Will the American People Prevent It?
July 16, 2023, 2022 (EIRNS)—In the week following the NATO Summit in Vilnius, in which not one participant even mentioned an idea about a negotiated peaceful solution to the current war in Ukraine, while multiple plans for full-scale war with Russia and China were discussed in detail, it is not surprising that the leading press sewers in the U.S. contributed new extensive proposals for all-out military and economic warfare against Russia and China.
First, Foreign Affairs, the journal of the Council on Foreign Relations, the leading British intelligence outpost in the United States, published a piece called “The Myth of Neutrality: Countries Will Have To Choose between America and China.” One may imagine that this was written by the long-deceased statesman John Foster Dulles, who played such a leading role in bringing the U.S. into line as an extension of the British Empire, taking on the British Imperial role in crushing republican movements in Indonesia and Vietnam. It was Dulles who justified such evil, argued that neutrality “has increasingly become an obsolete conception, and except under very exceptional circumstances, it is an immoral and shortsighted conception.” This was his response to the historic Bandung Conference led by Indonesian President Sukarno, together with India’s Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and China’s Zhou Enlai, and other former colonies, who launched what became the Non-Aligned Movement. Sukarno and his followers were soon overthrown, with hundreds of thousands slaughtered by the combined conspiracy of the U.S., the U.K. and Australia.
But the ghost of Dulles was not required, as the war party was able to call upon a living British asset, Richard Fontaine, CEO of the neo-con outpost the Center for a New American Security and a former advisor to Sen. John McCain, the man Lyndon LaRouche noted had never seen a war he didn’t love. Fontaine “explains” why countries must reject neutrality, and instead align themselves with the U.S. war policies or face destruction themselves. His conclusion: “Countries cannot have their cake and eat it, too. The time for choosing has arrived. Countries will have to decide whether to side, or appear to side, with Washington or Beijing. The United States, rather than reassuring capitals that no such choice is in the offing, should accept this reality and help foreign capitals make the right decisions.”
The second “contribution” to this fascist way of thought came from the New York Times Magazine, with a title admitting that the U.S. is now engaging in “An Act of War: Inside America’s Silicon Blockade Against China,” proudly describing the U.S. sanctions policy, together with economic warfare, against China as the necessary means for assuring U.S. unipolar hegemony worldwide. While the New York Times Magazine complains that the U.S. is doing little to assure success in competition with China by developing better technologies in the U.S. itself, they proudly detail the U.S. success in destroying China’s leadership in crucial areas of science and technology, especially in the tech sector, by the illegal attack on Huawei and other Chinese tech companies, and now the full-scale “Chip Wars” against the entire Chinese economy. One wonders how the Times would have covered the Boston Tea Party.
The truth of the matter is that the nations of the so-called Global South have already expressed their preference for their future, and it is not to continue serving their former colonial masters. The “New Paradigm” is already available in the cooperation of the BRICS nations and the Chinese Belt and Road Initiative, which now has 149 member countries.
In the past week, the Schiller Institute held the sixth weekly meeting of the International Peace Coalition, bringing individuals and institutions committed to global peace together to end the madness of war, while also sponsoring two-day conference in Strasbourg, France on July 8-9 under the theme, “On the Verge of a New World War—European Nations Must Cooperate with the Global South!” where leading political, military, and scientific leaders presented ideas and held in-depth discussions on the urgency of success in stopping the war drive and creating a new architecture of peace and development for all nations.
Schiller Institute founder and chairwoman Helga Zepp-LaRouche also spoke at the Diane Sare’s Weekly Symposium on Friday, July 14, where she closed her remarks to Sare:
“I think the people of the United States must make their voices heard. I think that is probably the most strategically important factor, because we are so much on the verge of World War III, and the way how the Ukraine war evolves. Now, there is talk of sending F-16 fighter jets [to Ukraine]. Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov has just come out and said that given the fact that these F-16 fighter jets can be equipped with nuclear bombs, that from now on, whenever the Russians will see such a fighter jet over the territory of Ukraine, they will have to assume that it could have a nuclear bomb. It puts the whole thing into a completely different category. That should give everybody a shudder down their back, because we are so close to the possible catastrophe of a nuclear war that it does require the people of the United States to clearly say that they do not want to go in this direction.
“Fortunately, it looks like there will be two candidates who have expressed their opposition to the confrontation with Russia; unfortunately not entirely with China in the case of Trump. But you have Trump on the Republican side and you have Robert Kennedy, Jr. on the Democratic side. I think if you then take the heroic campaign of Diane Sare for Senate, I think you have voices who can completely change the United States and turn it back into a force of goodness in the world. To be part of that, that should be the most noble desire of every patriotic American at this point.”
