Creating a Post-Colonial World

Sept. 2, 2023, 2022 (EIRNS)—Colonialism is over.

India has achieved a magnificent moon landing. China’s EAST tokamak is making breakthroughs on the path towards commercial nuclear fusion. African nations are, one after another, ousting French economic, diplomatic, or military interests, through changes in government. Ukraine’s much-vaunted counteroffensive has gone essentially nowhere. The diplomatic isolation of Russia has not been achieved. The technological blockade of China is being broken from within, by domestic technological advance.

For the Anglo-American imperium, nothing seems to be working anymore!

Its only path forward is conflict and war, with both Russia and China (and, implicitly, any other nation that poses a threat to its hegemonism).

Consider U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo’s recent trip to China. If you use a microscope, you could find a few small advancements that her trip brought about, but the broader perspective of the Anglo-Americans is zero-sum confrontation, technological blockade, and stoking Taiwan-mainland conflict. Her trip would be like rearranging the furniture on the Titanic (“how to safely manage competition”) rather than getting off the ship (abandoning geopolitics)! Are U.S. officials really unaware of the contradiction here, or are they performing for an Anglo-American audience, aiming to depict an inclination towards “reasonable” discussion with the Chinese?

Indonesia recently had to contradict Pentagon reports of a supposed joint statement made by U.S. Defense Secretary and his Indonesian counterpart. The Pentagon claimed that the two “shared the view that the People’s Republic of China’s (P.R.C.) expansive maritime claims in the South China Sea are inconsistent with international law as reflected in the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea” and “jointly condemned violations of national sovereignty” through “the aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine” and demand Russia’s “complete and unconditional withdrawal from the territory of Ukraine.” But the Indonesian Ministry of Defense says that no such joint statement was issued at all, and its own press release on the meeting did not mention China or Russia.

Meanwhile, the formerly industrialized nation known as Germany is slipping further and further down a spiral of green death. Chancellor Scholz has once again said “no” to any extension of nuclear power, as Germany makes its businesses uneconomical through subsidizing an unworkable network of increasingly non-dispatchable “renewable” power generation.

Hungary’s Viktor Orbán, in a lively interview Tucker Carlson, explained that, unlike Germany’s seeming lack of interest in pursuing the truth behind the Nord Stream bombings, Hungary takes seriously its energy security: “Budapest has made it clear right away that there is another pipeline—not Nord Stream, but South Stream, through which gas is supplied from Russia along the southern corridor to Türkiye, Bulgaria, Serbia, and Hungary. Together with the Prime Minister of Serbia, we emphasized that if anyone wants to do the same thing with the southern corridor as was done with the northern one, we will consider it a reason for war, a terrorist attack, and we will respond immediately,” he told the former Fox News host.
