Association of Peruvian Economists Urge Peru To Join the BRICS
Sept. 4, 2023, 2022 (EIRNS)—In an Aug. 27 open letter to President Dina Boluarte, the Association of Peruvian Economists “recommends to your office carrying out the required steps for our country, Peru, to become part of the BRICS.” The letter, signed by the Association’s National Dean Roberto Vela, explains:
“Knowledgeable about the interests of Wall Street and the City of London to continue with the almost 500 years of exploitation of our natural resources, and to keep the countries of South America as a captive market, it is desirable to include our country in the New Silk Road, whose principal objective is the new win-win policy, with the new proposal being to link the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, which is the BRICS’ proposal.”
Vela goes on to describe the economic advantages of such bi-oceanic rail corridors, including “the transfer of science and technology with the objective of strengthening the total potential of our nations and our human resources in diverse aspects of cognitive development.”
Helga Zepp-LaRouche delivered the keynote address to the XXIII Annual Congress of the Peru Association of Economists on Nov. 17, 2016.
