Putin-Erdogan Plan Second Nuclear Plant in Türkiye

Sept. 5, 2023, 2022 (EIRNS)—As part of their bilateral discussions in Sochi, Presidents Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced plans for Russia to build a second nuclear plant in the Turkish Black Sea city of Sinop: “I especially want to mention the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant. As you know, construction is underway. I would like to highlight the second step in this area: in Türkiye, in the city of Sinop, we discussed the construction of a second nuclear power plant with my dear friend. With this step, Türkiye will undoubtedly break new ground,” said Erdogan in closing his remarks at their joint press conference yesterday.
