No German ‘Taurus’ Missiles to Ukraine
Oct. 5, 2023, (EIRNS)—The German daily Bild, citing unnamed official sources, reports that the government has decided not to send its long-range Taurus missiles to Ukraine in the foreseeable future. While Berlin has not yet formally notified Kiev about its decision, it is clear to those within the government that deliveries won’t happen for the time being.
The lack of a public announcement may leave the option open for German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, but Bild claims that the likelihood of such a decision is low. It notes, according to TASS, that Taurus missiles could be used to hit the Crimean Bridge, that Russia built uniting the peninsula to mainland Russia, after Crimea voted in 2014 to reunify with the Russian Federation.
