PRESS RELEASE

LaRouche: Libby Commutation Was a Compromise; Cheney Must Be Removed from Office Now

July 3, 2007 (EIRNS)--This release was issued by the Lyndon LaRouche Political Action Committee (LPAC).

Lyndon LaRouche commented today that President Bush's decision to commute the prison sentence of Lewis Libby was a compromise, which did not overturn the conviction. A pardon would have done so and this is what Cheney needed, but did not get. In that sense, Bush's compromise decision has to be seen as grease under the skids of Cheney.

LaRouche added that Libby is not really that important. The reality is that we are in a crisis, and we have to remove Cheney from office now. The issue is what is Cheney going to do next if we don't remove him from office immediately.

Numerous statements have been made denouncing Bush's decision, but LaRouche stressed that merely making statements, without taking action to remove Cheney from office now, reflects an advanced stage of political impotence.
