LaRouche Denounces Bloomberg-Wall Street Fascist Election Ploy
Jan. 6, 2008 (EIRNS)—This release was issued today by the Lyndon LaRouche Political Action Committee (LPAC).
A confab of elder Republicans and Democrats is being held in Norman, Oklahoma, today and tomorrow, for the launch of a "national unity" appeal, featuring the prospect of the candidacy of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg as an independent "unity" candidate. Bloomberg announced last June his independent party status. At an 11 a.m. press conference on Monday, Jan. 7, the group intends to release a statement of its mission.
Behind the rhetoric of togetherness and bipartisanship, the Bloomberg election operation is a well-orchestrated drive to impose the kind of fascist economic policies demanded by the bipartisan duo, George Shultz and Felix Rohatyn. This is the City of London and Wall Street at work, promoting bankers' fascism. Their hype-machine is now in full gear.
Co-hosting the Oklahoma weekend events are two former Senators, Sam Nunn (D-Georgia) and David Boren (D-Oklahoma). Tonight, Boren is hosting a private dinner meeting for 16 invited guests. Then there is to be a final policy session at breakfast Monday, followed by the national press conference. The Boren-Nunn invitaton letter used the group's hallmark jargon: "Today, we are a house divided. We believe that the next president must be able to call for a unity of effort by choosing the best talent available—without regard to political party—to help lead our nation."
According to media reports, the guest list includes Republicans Chuck Hagel (Nebraska Senator); John Danforth (former Senator, Missouri); Bill Brock (former Chairman of the Republican Party); Christine Todd Whitman (former Governor of New Jersey, and EPA head); Jim Leach (former U.S. representative, Iowa); William Cohen (former Defense Secretary); and Nunn. The Democrats include former Senators Chuck Robb (Virginia); Bob Graham (Florida); Gary Hart (Colorado); and Boren. Also, David Abshire, a long time Republican political and intelligence operative. Billionaire Bloomberg, the "independent," will be on hand.
Today, the C-Span Newsmakers program broadcast a pre-recorded interview with Boren, on morning and evening prime time TV. Boren, now President of the University of Oklahoma, demurred that a Bloomberg-for-President drive would be the second choice of the group; they would prefer to see the current Democrat and Republican candidates pledge to form a bipartisan national unity government, to deal with the grave crises facing the United States and the world. He said that he and Nunn came up with the national-unity drive idea, after seeing polls showing that over the six years of the Bush-Cheney Administration, the world has turned against American leadership. Polls show that the vast majority of Americans were pessimistic about the future, he said, blaming this on the grip of partisanship in Washington.
Boren gave many flowery references to past examples of bipartisanship, including the British Cabinet during World War II. He said he himself worked with Sam Nunn on Cold War policy during the Reagan Administration. The Marshall Plan had bipartisan support. There was civil rights collaboration between Lyndon Baines Johnson and Everett Dirksen.
Boren made clear that he opposes a third party, which he said would create even worse gridlock. Instead, he characterized a Bloomberg independent run as "shock therapy" for the two-party system as such.
In reality, the "shock effect" of this ploy, is intended to destroy the nation. Lyndon LaRouche, who was the first to identify the plan for such a Bloomberg-fascist wrecking operation months ago, announced that as of today, his political action committee LPAC is moving to crush this Bloomberg option. He will kick off the campaign with an article for the next issue of Executive Intelligence Review called "Under Their Skins."
