PRESS RELEASE

Scranton Unions Tell Congressmen To Introduce Homeowners and Bank Protection Act

Jan. 31, 2008 (EIRNS)—This release was issued yesterday by the Lyndon LaRouche Political Action committee (LPAC).

Two Pennsylvania Democratic Congressmen, freshman Christopher Carney and veteran Paul Kanjorski, are being urged by Scranton labor unions to introduce the Homeowners and Bank Protection Act (HBPA) proposed by Lyndon LaRouche.

The Scranton, Pennsylvania Building and Construction Trades Council, after holding a Jan. 28 discussion of the urgency of the HBPA with a LaRouche representative, sent a letter to Kearney and Kanjorski on Jan. 29, which emphasizes, "The Scranton Building Trades Council supports this Act, and would like your support."

The Scranton unions join nearly 40 city councils of cities and towns around Pennsylvania, which have already publicly called for the HBPA, which is "firewall" legislation to protect the economy from the financial crash, by extending insolvency protection to chartered banks, freezing mortgages and stopping foreclosures nationwide.
