LaRouche: Ambrose Evans-Pritchard Channels Keynesian Fascism

Jan. 20, 2009 (EIRNS)—This release was issued today by the Lyndon LaRouche Political Action Committee (LPAC).

John Maynard Keynes, the Brutish Lord and economist, was infamous for his statement in the German-language edition of his General Theory that his proposals were more suitable for totalitarian regimes. That fascist outlook was repeated today by Ambrose Evans-Pritchard, in the London Daily Telegraph. In reporting that S&P had cut the sovereign credit rating for Spain from AAA to AA-, Evans-Pritchard said that Spain now will have to "embark on a 1930s policy of draconian wage cuts. It remains to be seen whether this will be tolerated by a democracy."

Lyndon LaRouche, an old adversary of the faction which controls Evans-Pritchard's poison pen, said of the comment:

"This is like a Keynesian utterance. It's like Keynes saying that his General Theory was proposed in Germany in 1937, because it couldn't be tolerated in any democratic nation. Evans-Pritchard may go berserk to hear what a Keynesian he is—or tear his hair out, or something like that."
