PRESS RELEASE
LaRouche Demands Obama Mobilize
The U.S. Military
To Prevent Genocide in Haiti
Oct. 25, 2010 (EIRNS)—This release was issued today by the Lyndon LaRouche Political Action Committee (LPAC).
"It is still not too late to save hundreds of thousands of lives in Haiti," Lyndon LaRouche stated today, as news reports indicate that the cholera epidemic which broke out in the northwestern region of the country in mid-October has spread to the Port-au-Prince area. "The Obama Administration must immediately offer to return the U.S. military to Haiti, to coordinate emergency provision of clean water supplies, and then carry out the mission of mass relocation out of the disease- breeding hellholes to which at least 1.5 million Haitians have been consigned by our negligence. There is little doubt that the Haitian government would accept such an offer to save their nation."
"If we don't take these measures immediately, our nation will have lost the moral fitness to survive."
Jose Ruiz, media relations specialist with the U.S. Southern Command, told a reporter on October 22 that they are monitoring the situation in Haiti, but "at this point we haven't received any request."
A request for a renewed military deployment to Haiti would have to come from the U.S. State Department. Ultimate authority, however, lies with President Obama himself, who personally rejected proposals from inside his administration, as well as from Lyndon LaRouche, to carry out a mobilization of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to work with the Haitian government in mass relocation and reconstruction, back in February of this year.
The U.S. SOUTHCOM Taskforce Haiti pulled its final soldiers from Haiti on June 1, and currently maintains only a small liaison team in the capital, where over one million people live in subhuman conditions, without clean water, sanitation, and adequate shelter. Under such conditions, the current calls from UN officials for trying to keep the cholera epidemic under control by urging people to boil water and wash their hands with soap, are a sick joke.
"There is no question but that the sick Obama himself is a major obstacle to the necessary action," said LaRouche, as he is in every crucial area of policy needed to save our nation, and humanity as a whole. "But while we move to invoke the 25th Amendment to get him out, we should simultaneously demand the offer of a military deployment that will save lives. With the Haitians facing a disease that can kill within hours once it strikes, our humanity demands no less."
