Obama Lied, and Is Drawing U.S.
into a New Vietnam
March 29, 2011 (EIRNS)—This release was issued today by the Lyndon LaRouche Political Action Committee (LPAC).
Senior officials in the Obama Administration are now expressing grave concern that the President is intent on drawing the United States into a war in Libya, with American boots on the ground, to secure his re-election as a "Wartime President." (Great moniker for a Nobel Peace Prize winner.—ed.) This runs counter to what has been the approach of both Secretary of Defense Robert Gates and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and is further evidence that Obama must be removed from office immediately, under Section IV of the 25th Amendment, before the United States is drawn into a quagmire in North Africa. Lyndon LaRouche today warned that the British are behind this scheme, and that they have set a Malaysian monkey trap for their frontman, Obama. "It is a reflection of the same insanity on the part of the President, that has driven him to shut down vital science programs that could protect millions of Americans against the strong possibility of devastating seismic shocks all along the Pacific coast."
Senior Administration sources have stated unequivocally that the President was lying in his televised address to the American people last night, when he promised that the United States would turn over the command of the no-fly zone to NATO and that there would be no American ground troops engaged in the action in Libya. Defense Secretary Gates had strongly opposed any U.S. involvement in Libya, arguing that the United States had no strategic interests there and that any U.S. involvement in a no fly zone would constitute a major military action that could lead, unavoidably, to ground combat. President Obama has repeatedly declared that "Qaddafi must go," despite the fact that the United Nations Security Council resolution authorizing the no-fly zone explicitly denied that regime change was the objective. The U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, in negotiating the Security Council resolution, had pledged to both Russia and China that the military operation would be limited in scope to humanitarian protection of the Libyan people against Qaddafi. Now, U.S. relations with both Russia and China are jeopardized by what the Administration sources called Obama's reckless intentions.
One Administration source candidly acknowledged that the British government is playing a pivotal role in sucking President Obama into the larger war in Libya. Britain's Cameron government has argued that the London banks are on the edge of collapse, and protracted instability in Libya, resulting from Qaddafi remaining in power, could bring down the entire current world financial system. The argument, the source reported, resonated with the President. "We may find ourselves in a full-scale war before anyone realizes it," the source said. "This is more about London banks than Libyan rebels. And Obama's ego is out of control."
The Obama Administration has scheduled a classified briefing for Congress on the Libya situation, but, the sources warn, it is unlikely that the President will be forthcoming about the extent of the U.S. engagement. A senior U.S. intelligence source has further confirmed that there are American and European "advisors" on the ground in Libya, training the rebels. For now, they are contractors, not active duty U.S. or NATO forces. But that can change quickly.
