PRESS RELEASE
9/11 Families Demanding Release of FBI Documents on Saudi Ties to 9/11 Hijackers
Oct. 3, 2013 (EIRNS)—This release was issued today by the Lyndon LaRouche Political Action Committee.
A group representing families of those killed in the 9/11 attacks, is charging that the FBI is covering up the role of Saudi Arabia in the 2001 terrorist attacks. The group is lauding the Freedom-of-Information Act lawsuit brought by Florida newspapers seeking information about the FBI's investigation into a wealthy Saudi family who abruptly left Sarasota just prior to the attacks. The families' statement is reported in today's Sarasota Herald-Tribune.
The organization, called the "9/11 Families United to Bankrupt Terrorism," has also called upon President Obama to keep his promise made in 2009 to 9/11 families, to release the suppressed 28 pages of the Joint Congressional Inquiry's report, which reportedly deal with the Saudi role.
Referring to the FBI and Justice Department's response to the FOIA lawsuit brought by the Broward Bulldog, and now joined by the Miami Herald and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, Bill Doyle, whose son died in the World Trade Center, says, "Maybe someday we'll finally get to hear the truth."
"On the one hand, they [the FBI] say they have no evidence connecting the Sarasota Saudis to 9/11," Doyle said. "On the other hand, they say releasing the information would threaten national security. Both of those things cannot be true. The federal court should not let them get away with it."
The FBI documents being sought, could shed light on the ties between the Saudi family, headed by well-connected Saudi businessman Esam Ghazzawi, and the 9/11 hijackers, several of whom were known to have visited the Ghazzawi home prior to the family's abruptly flight from the United States about two weeks before the 9/11 attacks. The FBI at first said they had found no connections to the hijackers, although a later document said there were "many connections," and now the FBI's Tampa office says it has over 15,000 documents concerning its 9/11 investigation.
"I don't understand who they are protecting here," said Sharon Premoli, a 9/11 survivor and a spokeswoman for 9/11 Families United. "I don't understand why it is so intense, this shield, after the murder of 3,000 people."
